Original reason for circumcision was to de-sensitize the penis because according to certain religions you should only use your penis to procreate.  As far as cleanliness, if you shower regularly and wash your dick then you shouldn't have any issues.  Notice that circumcision has been pushed on 3rd world countries over the past few decades.  That's because they don't wash often which leads to issues.  As far as sensitivity, do the research and you'll soon see that uncircumcised penises are more sensitive and feel a lot more than cut ones.  Doctors in the US and other countries that practice circumcision are now slowly turning away from the procedure.  There are progressively less circumcisions done each year in these countries.
